Well, I've done four install attempts (both computers installed successfully) with 13.04. The first install I did, however, surprised me. I am not sure if I clicked on any existing files in the hard drive (which I presume would mount the drive). Regardless, the drive was mounted. So when I ran the installer, everything went as usual until Ubiquity reached the "Install alongside/replace" screen; IIRC it did not make it to that step, but a popup appeared asking whether to unmount the drive. I clicked in the affirmative, and the installer basically hung (spinning wheel for 10 minutes-- I took a coffee break-- after which I presumed nothing was happening.). So I killed the process, checked if the drive was unmounted, and ran the installer again (no restart). It then installed fine.
