So, I just did this:
sudo apt-get remove unity-webapps-gmail -y
and the gmail icon remained in my launcher, even after closing the gmail
tab it was still there. I don't think this is related to icon files that
live in ~/.local/share/icons, because you need more than just a PNG for
an icon to appear in the launcher (I think you need at least a .desktop
file, maybe more, not sure).
I am also using the latest raring.
