Hi Chris, the laptop model is (HP Pavillion) dv6720ez The bug seems to affect, but is not limited to, HP laptops (presumably with JMicron Technology Corp. SD/MMC Host Controllers).
I tested the mainline kernel (v3.9-rc7-raring - http://kernel.ubuntu.com /~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.9-rc7-raring/) and the bug persists.
