Hello, same problem, with ASUS X301A: battery sometimes not detected at startup (blinking red light), fan at max, and the temporary solution is, as for Darlan, turning off everything and removing the battery. Same bug with Ubuntu 12.04.2, 12.10 and now with 13.04...
