I agree, the -new driver works much better on my Radeon 5200 as well.
The actual mapping is in l-r-m and should be fixed there. As long as we
have the package split between -legacy/-new/nvidia-glx, this needs to
stay that way to not break upgrades, but eventually the packages should
be merged into one.
