Ok, I burnt a DVD, it works OK with the latest kit, saucy, it finds the network and it is ok to use firefox.
The original 12.04LTS installation CD does NOT work, I may be remembering wrong, OR it might have been located on the desk where the AP is at the time I installed it for my wife.
