Well, I did a whole bunch of things. I think most notably I switched to Nvidia's driver for X. I also installed macfanctld.
I wasn't taking note of exactly what I did, because I didn't expect either of those things to affect this, but it seems at some point suspend/resume started working properly again. I have no idea why. :) Leonardo, are you using Nvidia's driver?
