Something seems to be misconfigured with your system as you are missing
update-initramfs.

run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postrm.d/initramfs-tools 3.8.0-22-generic
/boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-22-generic
/etc/kernel/postrm.d/initramfs-tools: 33: /etc/kernel/postrm.d/initramfs-tools:
update-initramfs: not found
run-parts: /etc/kernel/postrm.d/initramfs-tools exited with return code 127
Failed to process /etc/kernel/postrm.d at
/var/lib/dpkg/info/linux-image-extra-3.8.0-22-generic.postrm line 328.
dpkg: error processing linux-image-extra-3.8.0-22-generic (--remove):
subprocess installed post-removal script returned error exit status 1

That is a part of the initramfs-tools package, which you do seem to have
installed. Given that you installed from some custom media I'm not certain how
much help we can be.
