I tried commenting out the 'respawn' bug-fix in/etc/init/lightdm.conf like this:
... stop on runlevel [016] # respawn # <-- add this line emits login-session-start emits desktop-session-start emits desktop-shutdown ... just in case it had an unexpected effect on Plymouth - no change. I tried adding my native resolution to /etc/default/grub like this:
gksudo gedit /etc/default/grub
add GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="1920x1080" # my native screen resolution then
sudo update-grub
Again, no change. Plymouth splash screen still displays text. Once the login page is reached, all is well. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219918 Title: Plymouth is low resolution since updates in 12.04 64-bit To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1219918/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
