I can confirm that adding the two lines to xorg.conf fixes the crashing
issue. To fix this bug, isn't it possible to have apt-get run "sudo
nvidia-xconfig --add-argb-glx-visuals -d 24" after installing the
nvidia-glx and nvidia-glx-new drivers in synaptics? Since Restricted
driver manger already does this, we only need to cover the synaptics
/apt-get way of installing the drivers. I agree with a previous post
who said that compiz should never crash period.
