Apologies Tony, I failed to enter any machine specific info.

So, this was observed on a Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I've double checked
with today's image and the "Operation currently not available" messages
only appear when I don't have a SIM in the phone.

SIM removed:

polls: 1.35/sec
recvmsg: 1.30/sec
sendmsg: 0.80/sec
read: 0.93/sec
write: 1.2667/sec

SIM inserted:

polls: 1.2666/sec
recvmsg: 0.9666/sec
sendmsg: 0.80/sec
read: 0.86666/sec
write: 0.9333/sec

So the SIM removed case seems to generate a little more message traffic.
As it stands, the CPU loading is about 0.03%, so it is quite low, and
we're seeing just ~6-7 context switches a second.
