I found out about the xorg-edgers files by going through synaptic descriptions. After manually removing all references and deinstalling facebook account settings the upgrade went smoothly. However, the link you present (you did that on another posting as well) does NOT contain any reference on how to remove the files or revert to the old settings. There are still some glitches but I'm happy now.
