Adding "acpi_backlight=legacy" fixed it for me under Ubuntu 13.10. (Dell N5010, IntelHD)
'gksu gedit /etc/default/grub' add "acpi_backlight=legacy" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" line so it'll look like this: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash acpi_backlight=legacy" save and run "sudo update-grub" Restart. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007765 Title: brightness adjusting crashes system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/1007765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
