I have the same problem with a 6600GT and my new 7300GS. I am using the DVI port or one LCD and the VGA for a second. After booting with a LiveCD, when X tries to load I get diagonal orange stripes across both screens and nothing else. I can't use ctrl-alt-f1 to switch to a console. I don't think ctrl-alt-backspace worked either but ctrl-alt- del allows me to reboot.
Since I can't get to a console, getting a copy of /var/log/Xorg.0.log is pretty difficult. I could try safe-mode and then startx but I'm not sure that would be relevant. If I unplug one monitor (usually the VGA one), X will load correctly. I have feisty installed on the system and used TwinView to enable dual monitors. That works well enough. This happens with both the Feisty LiveCD and the Gutsy Tribe 4 liveCD. -- livecd -- X breaks w/ multi-monitors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/77576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
