I cannot find any kind of such fix in any source or distribution.
The problem still exist on Debian 7, and compiling the latest lxterminal source 
as of december 2013 still get to the same problem. 
The ALT n sequence is trapped by lxterminal and correctly managed to switch 
tabs, but the same sequence is then also passed to the input stream, causing 
any kind of possible problem.
If a user want ALT n being passed to input stream, and underlying applications, 
he simply can disable the use of ALT n in preferences.
But for the case we use ALT n to switch tabs, which is what most people do 
since decades, since the time of XENIX and UNIX 386, and since Linux exist in 
fact, the LXTERMINAL does not work correctly.
Using control pageup-pagedown is not an option.

The issue for me is still well open.
