I had a blackscreen issue after Grub boot menu when tried to install Ubuntu 13.10 x64 from LiveCD.
In my case the problem was solved by ENABLING Secure Boot. I have successfully installed the above OS alongside with pre-installed Windows 8 and now I have dual-boot system.
