Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop ISO of the
development release - Trusty Tahr. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of

I clean-installed Ubuntu 13.10 in English on my computer and set my
location as "Geneva" (a Swiss city) with my keyboard as "Swiss-French".
However, certain programs default to German instead of English :
- TexWorks, TexMaker but also the data+time app in my sidebar defaulted to

This is a common conception mistake where modern programs expect people
and countries to have one language only (hence German for Switzerland,
