Looks like this patch (from a developer of an in-develop derivative of ubuntu for Italian schools, here the original: https://code.google.com/p/wiildos/source/browse/lxlauncher/03_allign_labels.patch, the attached is renamed, refreshed, and with a neater header) resolve the issue.
