It still affects Trusty 14.04 I ran into this bug while switching to the guest session, back to the user and again back to the guest. I thought I was stuck on this guest login screen as all functions are inactive on this screen, it only lets you type a password. But it's possible to switch back to the user login screen using (ctrl-alt-f7) as the guest session is opened in a secondary X server (ctrl-alt-f8).
