I have this problem with Linux Mint 16 KDE Live DVD, using KDE 4.11.2.
Is it expected? I had to do "sudo iwlist wlan0 scan essid <my ssid>" to
make the system connect to the hidden network once added to the
"Connection editor" window, otherwise I could not find any way to do it
(there's no "connect" command in the "Connection editor" window and the
just added hidden network was not shown in the tray panel for wireless
connections).
