Very similar problem on Ubuntu with unity. The menu entries for suspend
diappeared from the menu.

It can suspend and resume perfectly, and using upower -d , the system
even knows it does.

Daemon:
  daemon-version: 0.9.23
  can-suspend: yes
  can-hibernate: yes
  on-battery: no
  on-low-battery: no
  lid-is-closed: no
  lid-is-present: yes
  is-docked: no
root@HP-EliteBook-2530p:~#

but the entries in the menu are missing.

It is really annoying because my girlfriend uses suspend a lot and I am
preparing the notebook for her.

Is there any way to add the menu entries back manually if I know that
they are working properly?

Thanks for any hints..
