Same problem occurs on Thinkpad R61 (unsurprising since I believe it's
the same chipset).
I'm writing this from a Kubuntu Gutsy Tribe 5 LiveCD but results are
similar under Ubuntu 7.04. Some observations:
Volume control---only two sliders are visible in Output, "Master" and
"PCM". There are no others nor tabs for input etc.
