Yes, it seems that you missed the part "This option makes only sense
when set in fstab." that is mentioned in the section related to
[no]user.

This issue is invalid.  But you should be able to use fstab to achieve
what you are trying to do.  If you are not root, try nautilus which has
davfs support for ordinary users.
