Mark, Phil, and others: This problem is not going to get solved any time soon. It requires a substantial rewrite of a large portion of the ehci-hcd driver,, which would itself take many months, and I have other things to work on.
In theory you can get around the problem by buying an add-on PCI USB card and plugging the audio device into that card instead of into the motherboard's USB ports. Of course, this isn't practical for laptops and it has other obvious disadvantages.
