Yes, I too have become exceedingly frustrated with this problem to the point of considering a move to another email client. Given that a very painful manual workaround is available and has been for some time, it seems criminal that these workaround steps haven't been automated within Thunderbird. Would it really be too resource intensive to simply perform these additional steps each time Thunderbird checks for mail updates? Maybe that is what every other email client does and that is why they do not have this problem. Thank you.
