In case you're not aware of it anymore, going offline and back online
does not resolve the issue. At least for me. The only thing that does
help is restarting Thunderbird, which I have to doo every few days when
I deleted something either in the web mailer or my smartphone (K9 mail),
with both work fine the other way around.

Thunderbird is the closest, unfortunately.

This seems to be the Mozilla way of dealing with bugs: Blame it on the
others, no matter how. While my comment may not be constructive, neither
is yours. We're living in a real world that doesn't always work as
designed.
