And yes, I figured when trying a new PPA I should just go ahead and report it upstream, then on a whim I decided to just delete the config and it fixed it - shameful to have it change the config and not recognize the old format! And I wouldn't say things are running as they should - Lyx is ... but I've got problems I can't even figure out how to diagnose. Seems to be dbus-related problem - some sort of loop. Locks up the whole desktop for a couple of seconds at a time. Fix one problem and another pops up.
