It's still around in Ubuntu 14.04 for me too (since 12.10). I'm using an HP Pavilion dv7 Laptop/Notebook with 2GB of RAM. Apparently, Ubuntu sets 2GB of space for swap (equal to my RAM) by default during installation, and that seems to make my computer hang while trying to resume after suspending. The swap space might be insufficient.
