I've seen the same thing regarding the "power manager is not running, do
you wish to run it now" message in Xubuntu 14.04 on my Thinkpad W510.
Clicking "run" does nothing. Trying to run xfce4-power-manager in
terminal didn't help either. If I recally correctly, the process
wouldn't show up in gnome-system-monitor. Not entirely sure how to
reproduce the message. Rebooting probably fixed it. I've got other
possibly more pressing issues with xfce4-power-manager and light-locker
at the moment.
