Hi,
(sorry about the delay in replying)
I disagree: this bug is _not_ a duplicate of bug #134146.
The difference being that my audio hardware _never_ worked with Gutsy
(tried Tribe 4 and 5), whilst bug 134146 is basically reporting an
audio breakage when upgrading from kernel 2.6.22-9 to 2.6.22-10.
The reason for my audio not working is that the audio chipset Realtek
ALC268 (Intel HDA ICH8 family) is not supported by the latest ALSA
release yet.
It does work, though, with the ALSA development version (ALSA-HG) since
about mid-August.
At the moment there's a lot of confusion about Intel HDA audio problems
with Gutsy: most people reporting audio problems are actually using
chipsets based on the intel ICH7 family (which _is_ supported by ALSA),
while there's a growing number of people - like me - using the newest
ICH8 family, sporting that Realtek ALC268 chip, which unfortunately is
not officially supported by the ALSA drivers.
thanks
