I have a toshiba m30x and I'm using gutsy tribe5. If I don't pass the acpi=off to the kernel, my laptop will shutdown immediatly during gnome session start. With immediatly I mean that I can see nothing more that a powered off pc instantly. Using the live cd I have the same problem.
