Out of many boots today, 3.16.0-10 ran once. Almost all the time X is running, desktop is fine, compiz and unity fail.
Trying to get compiz and unity running from Ctrl-Alt-F1 or F2 gets a whole screen of messages, including: ....... Unity is fully supported by your hardware Unity is not supported by your hardware, loading software..... ----- Somehow are two consecutive tests being done?
