When I work with images (generate, copy, move) and use nautilus gvfs- metadata often hangs Nautilus, so that it is not displaying any files in a window. Nautilus becomes fine when I kill gvfs-metadata. In my mind this is one of the most unfortunate recent features of Ubuntu.
