As discussed on IRC, please do the following:
1. See if this still occurs with the latest LiveCD.
2. If so, please provide the following logs after this condition occurs:
* ~/.cache/upstart/unity8.log
* /var/log/lightdm/unity-system-compositor
3. If you are so inclined, switch to a VT when using the Live session and use
gdb to break into the unity8 process and get a backtrace.
