tried adding modules to  /etc/initramfs-tools/modules
# List of modules that you want to include in your initramfs.
# They will be loaded at boot time in the order below.
#
# Syntax:  module_name [args ...]
#
# You must run update-initramfs(8) to effect this change.
#
# Examples:
#
# raid1
# sd_mod
hid
usbhid
hid_generic
ohci_pci
hid-generic
------------------------------------
no luck,
also tried
modifying /etc/default/grub
with
both different resolution like
GRUB_GFXMODE=800x600
and tried forcing grub mode into
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX="text"
or
GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=wxh like in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cryptsetup/+bug/1375435
