Eric, you're right, this bug actually has a split personality for me. 1. Saved passwords are not getting automatically used 2. Some (exact criteria unknown) login and password combos are not getting saved at all, despite repeated form fills (comment 67)
They may or may not have the same underlying mechanism responsible. Pointers to more related bugs are welcome here. SPE addon fixes scenario 2, which is even worse, because you have to manually copy/paste from another password db like KeePass on every Thunderbird startup. But yes, I still have to "Enter" key currently through 4 authentication prompts, an amount which can only increase.
