Files downloaded to install Ubuntu are usually .iso files, which
requiring CD burning software to be used to write them out to a DVD (or
using image writing software such as usb-creator, to a USB key).

Please see the following links; they describe how to write a DVD or USB
key to use for installing or trying Ubuntu without installing:

Since this report doesn't appear to be a bug in Ubuntu itself, I'm going
to go ahead and close this as Invalid. Please do not hesitate to report
any further bugs you may find.

Thanks!
