Marty's workaround in post #6 did not work for me until I figured that I
also had to untick the relevant options in Nemo's configuration. It
seems that Gnome might be relying on Nautilus and its configuration
options, but it does not help to those of us who switched to Nemo after
Nautilus had been severely incapacitated.
In summary, this is what fixed the problem for me:
- in "dconf editor", untick "automount" and "automount-open" in
"org/gnome/desktop/media-handling"
- in Nemo -> Edit -> Preferences, "Behavior" tab, untick "Automatically
mount removeable media when inserted on startup" and "Automatically open
a folder for automounted media".
