I have the exact same problem as hansie describes. I am trying to put Trusty
(14.04 LTS, 32 bit version) on a Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 with an AMD
Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core processor, 1024 DDR2 SDRAM--same laptop as hansie.
There is no flickering/blinking on the original download of Trusty with Linux
3.13.0-32. The flickering/blinking started, when I did my first update to
Linux 3.13.0-48. I did a further update to Linux 3.13.0-49 and the problem
continued.
So at least 2 people have this problem and I am pretty sure that any other
Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 user has the same problem. I see the problem is
labelled as low priority. To me it is not low priority, because I would like
to have a long term support (LTS) os on my computer. However, if the problem
is fixed in 15.04 (as hansie states), I guess I could go with that until the
next LTS.

Has anybody tried the 64 bit version of 14.04??? Are people moving on
to 15.04, so this problem is likely never to be fixed in 14.04 LTS???
