Even though Alberto has marked this as Triaged, this is still wrong - as I said
previously, it can't be a Mozilla bug if it's locking the machine solid.
My bet would be graphics driver (since firefox does tend to push that hard).
Please answer for the ping test in my comment #7 and try the other
graphics driver.
