Thanks for reporting this issue. The bug here was that both gnuradio-companion and the grc package both contain a file with the same name, which caused problems when attempting to install them at the same time. As you may have already discovered, this issue has been fixed some time ago, when the file in gnuradio was renamed to gnuradio-companion instead. See the corresponding Debian bug report (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=557050) for more information.
For unrelated reasons (https://bugs.debian.org/cgi- bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=653749) gnuradio was not included in Ubuntu 12.04, but I have tested with 14.04 and verified that both gnuradio and grc can be installed at the same time without any conflicts. I'm therefore closing this as fixed. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #653749 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=653749 ** Changed in: gnuradio (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Fix Released ** Changed in: grc (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/876564 Title: package gnuradio-companion (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/bin/grc', which is also in package grc 0:1.3 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnuradio/+bug/876564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
