Public bug reported:

Formatting a 16gig USB stick using 'USB Stick Formatter' or 'GParted'
then copied a 12 gig partition using dd as follows:

dd if=/dev/sdd1 of=/dev/sdc1 bs=512

dd reports that there is no more room after 4.8GB and stops

Put same stick in a Windows 8 laptop

Windows requests that the disk is formatted straight away (this may be a
side effect of the failed dd but anyway!)

Format as NTFS using Windows 8

Returned to Linux

22525952+0 records in
22525952+0 records out
11533287424 bytes (12 GB) copied, 3366.71 s, 3.4 MB/s

Success!

Not sure what this is but I thought I should raise it.

I have had some issues formatting SD cards in the past and always find Windows
formatter to be safer!

Keep up the good work
