You were right, the crash happens after gmusicbrowser writes gmbrc files.
It displays
Writing tags in ~/.config/gmusicbrowser/gmbrc ...
Writing tags in ~/.config/gmusicbrowser/gmbrc ... done
Then crashes.
So it's probably the same bug as the one you linked.
But it's description doesn't match my situation.
I hesitate between editing the other bug-report description to include my case,
then close my bug-report, or leaving things as they are.
