just wanted to report that under ubuntu 15.10 the subwoofer works as it should ie. it has low-pass filter and plays just the "basses" from any 'player' (using myself clementine / smplayer(mpv)) the quality of the bass i would say is comparable to that of a windows - cant tell for sure because so long time passed since this laptop saw windows(ran it for a few hours after it was bought). if someone has any questions just ask - i can test smth if needed etc.
