I updated the BIOS today. Ouput from the command you requested is:
$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

The problem persists, so I have marked this as Confirmed, per your
request.
As I stated in the initial post, the problem is that when I connect an
external monitor, it is not detected using the standard 4.2.x.xx kernel.
When I use the mainline 4.3 kernel, the external monitor is detected and
operates as expected.
If you need any other specific information, please don't hesitate to
ask.
