Update of the December 16th Linux kernel does not fix the issue, return to 
older version Linux kernel 3.13.0.71.77
Have no idea as to whether this is wpasupplicant or the network manager but 
there seems to be an additional issue as the Netgear does not "see" a number of 
usually visible wireless connections (account) in the area (usually a half 
dozen or so) under either of the kernel updates mentioned..


This may be due more to some change in the accepted security
