Enabling your clients to see shared printers is done like this: sudo /usr/share/cups/enable_browsing 1 It's true, KDE doesn't have GUI for doing this. But this is cause printing.kde.org stoped developing 4 years ago. Hopefully, GUI will be created at some point in the future. As you can see, you don't need any other password but your own. Desipte Kurt's blog, none functionality was taken from CUPS.
