"Recommends: indicator-applet | indicator-renderer"
Unity provides indicator-renderer and it has been this way for years...
I guess you are looking at component mismatch? In this case the issue is
likely something else, e.g unity not being installable on s390x by
example could make the indicator try to pull the applet in as that would
be the only option
