Something seems to be wrong with your local installation. From the
terminal log provided:
dpkg: error: unable to create new file '/var/lib/dpkg/info/format-new': No such
file or directory
...
dpkg: warning: files list file for package 'fonts-sil-abyssinica' missing;
assuming package has no files currently installed
...
And that is emitted for *many* packages.
