Same here. I installed (clean install from CD) Tribe 5 and than went with the updates. After install I enabled the desktop effects (or whatever is called now) and set to custom. In ccsm I enabled Window decorations and set the command line to "emerald --replace" and all worked fine. However, today I updated to the latest version and suddenly emerald won't start. I also tried from command line with no luck and no error messages.
But it didn't started with that. The first symptom of something going wrong was that after starting up the desktop didn't "fit" in the set resolution (that would be 1152x865) which was set using the new "Screen and graphics" tool. I mean it didn't fit, it was scrolling when I reached the screen edges with the mouse pointer. I tried to see what happened and started "Screen and graphics" and it said that the resolution is set to 1440xwhatever, I tried to set it back to 1152x865 but it didn't worked. The "Test" button was disabled, after pressing "OK" (or something) it said that it changed the resolution and if I want to keep that way, but effectively the resolution was left unchanged. After a restart the resolution went back to normal (to what I set), but no luck with emerald. Can emerald be started in some kind of debug mode, or verbose mode? Because with no error messages it is quite hard to determine what is wrong. -- emerald and emerald-theme-manager stopped working https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/146529 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
